THE PORT OF QUÉBEC INVITES VISITORS OF ALL AGES TO DIVE INTO THE PORT ECOSYSTEM AT ITS FAMILY MARITIME FESTIVAL

Fête maritime familiale

Québec City, August 14, 2025 – The Port of Québec invites the public to visit the Estuaire sector, near the Oasis, on Saturday, Septembre 6, from 1 to 5 p.m. for the fourth Fête maritime familiale, or Family Maritime Festival. Everyone is welcome to take part in this free event that celebrates the richness of the maritime world and the important role the Port plays in Québec City residents’ everyday lives.

This event is a fantastic opportunity to build even better relationships between the citizens and Port stakeholders who work together to breathe life into the Port and help it thrive. Partners from many different yet interconnected fields will be there to share their knowledge, their passion, and their commitment to the river and the community alike.

People of all ages are invited to enjoy an afternoon of free entertainment. There’s something for everyone: bouncy castles, face painting, ice cream, roving entertainers, and interactive booths. These spaces are also a chance to meet the teams behind everyday port and maritime activities, to understand their role, and to see how their expertise complements others’.

Win Unique Experiences

The families who join the festivities on September 6 will have the chance to win exclusive experiences from Port partners :

  • An excursion aboard the Toison d’or with biologist Vikie Pedneault
  • A tour of the Holland America Volendam
  • A driving tour of the Port guided by our former harbour master

A Community Event In The Heart Of The Port

“This festival is our way of opening the Port to everyone and inviting them to come get to know us. We want to create a friendly, welcoming space where people can ask questions, learn about exciting careers, and, above all, experience the Port in a new way. It’s a chance to share our pride and passion for the river and strengthen that invaluable relationship with the community.”

About The Port Of Québec

The Port of Québec is strategically located 1100km from the Atlantic Ocean, close to the Great Lakes market. It is the last deepwater port in the St. Lawrence corridor, with a depth of 15 metres. This unique position allows Canadian companies to achieve significant economies of scale in both import and export trade.

With links to more than 40 partner countries, the Port of Québec and its employees handle an average of over 26 million tonnes of goods every year, representing a commercial value of over $15 billion.

The Port is also recognized as the leading cruise port on the St. Lawrence; along with all its partners in Québec’s maritime industry, it contributes to $2 billion in economic spin-offs while supporting some 12,000 jobs nationwide.

The Québec Port Authority (QPA) is ranked 4th out of the 17 Canadian port authorities in terms of revenue. While it is economically powerful, it is also known for its contributions to the area’s urban and social fabric thanks to the development of tourism and recreational spaces like the Agora, the Oasis, the Cale, the Discoglace, the Village Nordik, and the Baie de Beauport.
