Québec City, June 19, 2025 – As it heads into a new chapter, the Port of Québec is looking back on 2024, a year of dedication, innovation, and performance. With Olga Farman officially taking the helm at the start of 2025, the Port is aiming to become a strategic partner in the future of logistics chains, to reinvigorate dialogue with the community and become a point of pride for the city, and to position itself as a major economic driver for the Capitale-Nationale region for the benefit of citizens and businesses alike.

An Economic Driver for the Capitale-Nationale

In 2024, the Port of Québec handled 26.5 million tonnes of goods. While certain industrial sectors, like steelmaking, slowed, impressive increases in the agri-food and construction sectors allowed the Port to sustain high volumes.

The Port also contributed over $2.1 billion in economic spin-offs and supported 12,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The Port of Québec is a living force in our everyday lives, a crossroads of trade that shapes our future. It’s more than a cargo port – it’s a port of ideas, of opportunities and lasting commitments, that works towards shared prosperity and a better quality of life.

An Award-Winning Cruise Destination That Does Tourism Differently

The 2024 season confirmed that the cruise sector is going strong. The Port welcomed nearly 155,000 cruise passengers, saw 8 new ships, and received a major distinction: for the second year in a row, it was named Best Canada/New England Cruise Destination. The Port was also the first in North America to receive the Biosphere certification, testifying to its leadership in sustainable tourisme.

Modern Facilities with Spaces for the Community

The Port invested nearly $30 million to maintain and update its infrastructure, allowing key facilities to remain viable in the long term. At the same time, tourism and recreational spaces such as L’Oasis, La Cale, and the Baie de Beauport welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors, while the Discoglace lit up the winter and the Agora filled the air with music from its open-air concerts.

The Port of Québec belongs to its community. It’s a place of passage, of course, but also a meeting place full of nature and culture. Every one of our initiatives aims to strengthen the relationship with our community, which makes us such a proud and open port city.

An Innovation-Focused Port with its Eyes on the Horizon

The Port is determined to become a catalyst for transformation in the maritime world, as evidenced by the launch of the Lighthouse innovation lab, the hosting of startups in collaboration with 2 Degrés, and the numerous partnerships with research centres.

In 2025, the new President and CEO hopes to nurture a sense of closeness by deepening dialogue with citizens, strengthening regional partnerships, and focusing on market diversification with a view to creating sustainable value for the entire community.
