PORT OF QUÉBEC MAINTAINS THE HIGHEST GREEN MARINE LEVELS FOR A SIXTH STRAIGHT YEAR

Québec, July 17th, 2024 — The Port of Québec is proud to announce that it has once again distinguished itself by ranking among the leaders of Green Marine. This recognition testifies that the Port’s efforts to improve its environmental performance and commitment to sustainable development are unwavering.


Green Marine is a voluntary environmental certification program aimed at improving the North American maritime industry’s environmental performance. Program members, like the Port of Québec, are committed to reducing their ecological footprint by respecting rigorous criteria and implementing exemplary practices.

Exemplary Performance 
In 2023, the Port of Québec ranked at the top of each of the Green Marine certification indicators: 

  • Air Emissions — Greenhouse gases (level 5)
  • Community impacts (level  5) 
  • Community relations (level  5) 
  • Environmental leadership (level  5)
  • Spill prevention and stormwater management (level  5) 
  • Waste management (level  5)

The Québec Port Authority, a non-profit organization, manages the port of Québec which is strategically located to serve North America’s industrial and agricultural heartland. This Canadian hub for international trade for both the import and export of goods is the only port in the province of Québec with a fifteen-meter depth of water at low tide and a comprehensive intermodal infrastructure. The port facilities generate 10,000 jobs and about two billion dollars in economic activity.
