The Challenge is open to everyone, giving participants of all fitness levels the exclusive chance to walk, run, and get moving through the Port\u2019s facilities during a fun and motivational event.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\t\t\t<div class=\"item block-quote component-block-quote\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"block-quote__container container\">\n\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"block-quote__element\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"block-quote__text wysiwyg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>With the Port of Qu\u00e9bec Active Challenge, we wanted to open our doors wide and invite the community to get to know our port even better. The event will offer a number of walking and running routes through the Port, along with plenty of other activities to get people moving and give them a behind-the-scenes look at one of Canada\u2019s largest ports.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-paragraph js-anim js-anim-scroll-top\"  ><div class=\"container\">\n<p>The first edition of this event is also another chance to rally the Port of Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s partners, much like the Family Maritime Festival, which is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portquebec.ca\/en\/communities\/espaces-portuaires\/\">Espaces portuaires<\/a> program. The fifth and last edition of that event is set to be held on August&nbsp;29; it will be replaced by the Port of Qu\u00e9bec Active Challenge starting in 2027.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-heading js-anim js-anim-scroll-top\"  ><div class=\"container\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Registration opens in Fall\u00a02026<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-paragraph js-anim js-anim-scroll-top\"  ><div class=\"container\">\n<p>Online registration will be open to the general public and people working at the Port as of this fall. Details about the event\u2014including the fees, routes, and program\u2014will be shared at the same time. Proceeds from the event will be donated to <a href=\"https:\/\/vitam.ulaval.ca\/\">VITAM<\/a> in support of sustainable health research.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-heading js-anim js-anim-scroll-top\"  ><div class=\"container\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Announcement at a luncheon led by Dr.\u00a0Jean-Pierre Despr\u00e9s<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-paragraph js-anim js-anim-scroll-top\"  ><div class=\"container\">\n<p>The event was announced at a luncheon led by Dr.\u00a0Jean-Pierre Despr\u00e9s, the scientific director of the VITAM sustainable health research centre, which focused on his book <em>La r\u00e9volution active\u00a0: de la gestion de la maladie \u00e0 la promotion de la sant\u00e9<\/em>. It is the last deepwater port in the St.&nbsp;Lawrence corridor, with a depth of 15&nbsp;metres. This unique position allows Canadian companies to achieve significant economies of scale in both import and export trade.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-paragraph js-anim js-anim-scroll-top\"  ><div class=\"container\">\n<p>With links to more than 40&nbsp;partner countries, the Port of Qu\u00e9bec and its employees handle an average of over 26&nbsp;million tonnes of goods every year, representing a commercial value of over $15&nbsp;billion.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-paragraph js-anim js-anim-scroll-top\"  ><div class=\"container\">\n<p>The Port is also recognized as the leading cruise port on the St. Lawrence; along with all its partners in Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s maritime industry, it contributes to $2&nbsp;billion in economic spin-offs while supporting some 12,000&nbsp;jobs nationwide.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-paragraph js-anim js-anim-scroll-top\"  ><div class=\"container\">\n<p>The Qu\u00e9bec Port Authority (QPA) is ranked 4<sup>th<\/sup> out of the 17 Canadian port authorities in terms of revenue.
