In the wake of this decision, the Port of Qu\u00e9bec expects the company to file a project notice for a container terminal. That project will be thoroughly and transparently examined through the Port\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portquebec.ca\/en\/environment\/impact-assessment-and-mitigation-process\/\">Impact Assessment and Mitigation Process<\/a> (IAMP), which is governed by the legislation in effect.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-paragraph js-anim js-anim-scroll-top\"  ><div class=\"container\">\n<p>This process includes:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-list js-anim js-anim-scroll-top\"  ><div class=\"container\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Analysis of the project scope and determination of the level of assessment needed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Public participation mechanisms, including consultations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Independent assessment of environmental effects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A formal decision, made public and accompanied by clear conditions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-paragraph js-anim js-anim-scroll-top\"  ><div class=\"container\">\n<p>The Port of Qu\u00e9bec would like to reassure the public that the project will be thoroughly assessed and held to strict security, environmental, and social acceptability criteria. It is the last deepwater port in the St.\u00a0Lawrence corridor, with a depth of 15\u00a0metres.
