Québec City, July 28, 2023<\/strong> – The Port of Québec is pleased to kick off the 7th edition of its historical pedestrian rally. Developed in collaboration with the Québec-based company MySmartJourney, the course will be rolled out once again in digital format. Composed of 10 interactive terminals, it is now open to the public on port territory and will continue until October 31st. The first terminal is located close to the new recreational and tourism site La Cale du Port de Québec, and the journey ends at the Port de Québec Oasis harbour bath.<\/p>\n

\nAn initiative of Port employees, the historical rally aims to share the port’s history by inviting residents and visitors to browse the most significant places, buildings and historical monuments scattered throughout the port territory. This educational activity is part of the program to enhance the port’s historical heritage. The Port would also like to warmly thank the Musée naval de Québec for its contribution to the terminal content.<\/p>\n

\n“The historical pedestrian rally is a fun and educational activity that we organize every summer to showcase Québec City’s historical and cultural heritage and, more specifically, its port. The route invites residents and visitors to learn more about Québec City’s maritime origins while visiting some of the port’s new attractions, such as the La Cale du Port de Québec and the Oasis,” says Mario Girard, President and CEO of the Port of Québec.<\/p>\n

\nParticipants are invited to participate in the rally and dive into port history by scanning the QR code of each terminal with their cell phone. Specific points on the course give participants the chance to win one of the prizes offered by the rally’s generous sponsors: Tourisme Wendake, Musée de la Civilisation, Excursions Maritimes Québec and Strøm Spa Nordique.

\nAbout the Port of Québec<\/strong>
\nOne of the five largest ports in Canada in terms of tonnage handled and economic benefits, the Port of Québec is strategically located to serve the industrial and agricultural heart of North America. Annually, cargo ships coming from or going to nearly 50 countries stop there to connect the Great Lakes and Midwest American markets to the rest of the world. Twenty percent of the port territory, which extends from Beauport to the South Shore, is devoted to recreational tourism activities.<\/p>\n
