Québec City, April 1, 2023<\/strong> – With a view to establishing a land reserve, the Port of Québec announces today that it has received regulatory approval from the federal government to proceed with the land acquisition in the Lévis-Est sector, the last industrial port lands in the greater Québec City-Lévis region.<\/p>\n

In 2017, the Port of Québec had signed an option to purchase with the current landowners. Since then, due diligence was conducted notably to acquire good knowledge of the site. Today, another step forward was made in the process with the letters patent received from the federal government and the notice of issuance published in the Canada Gazette. The letters patent authorize the Port to finalize and close the transaction on these 270 hectares of land.<\/p>\n

"A few weeks ago, the Port unveiled its Vision 2035, which lays the groundwork to balance economic development, community engagement and exemplary environmental practices. This is exactly the spirit in which we envision the development and enhancement of the land in the Lévis-Est sector," said Mario Girard, President and CEO of the Port of Québec.<\/p>\n

Thus, the Port of Québec wants to give itself the necessary levers to ensure its development on both sides of the river, even if no project to establish itself on the Lévis-Est site currently exists.<\/p>\n

It is important to mention that even before a project sees the light, the Port of Québec will first make sure to involve near to far relevant stakeholders in order to create a relationship and a harmonious dialogue. For the eventual development of this site, the Port intends to impose essential conditions based on environmental, social, and good governance factors.

\nUntil the transaction is officially concluded, the Port of Québec and its representatives will reserve their comments.<\/p>\n
