At the Port of Qu\u00e9bec, we believe that being a good neighbour calls for open, constructive dialogue with the community. It also means actively involving stakeholders in the development of a sustainable, committed, and forward-looking port.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Our team makes sure to include the community in Port projects and acknowledge the value of citizen expertise. That\u2019s why it\u2019s taken several steps to encourage community involvement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

These discussion forums are an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss cohabitation issues, express concerns, ask questions, find information, and share ideas and recommendations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\t\t\t

Community Relations Committee<\/h2 >\n
\n

The<\/span> Community<\/span> Relations<\/span> Committee<\/span> enables<\/span> us<\/span> to <\/span>establish<\/span> a<\/span> formal,<\/span> ongoing<\/span> dialogue<\/span> with<\/span> local <\/span>stakeholders from all walks of life. The committee meets <\/span>around four times a year. It looks at the issues that are <\/span>most important to citizens and different players within <\/span>the community.<\/span> This platform for invaluable discussion <\/span>fits into our sustainable development approach and <\/span>recognizes the important role citizens play in the port\u2019s <\/span>development.<\/span><\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n

The Jeunes \u00e0 Bord committee is a way to exchange information and ideas with the next generation. It\u2019s <\/span>also a way to learn more about their vision of the industrial port world, environmental issues, and <\/span>cohabitation between the city and the port.<\/span><\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n

Public consultations are a way for the Port to share the <\/span>details of the projects it has chosen. These meetings <\/span>are part of the<\/span> Impact Assessment and Mitigation <\/span>Process (IAMP)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0as they allow the Port to <\/span>assess the risks and impacts for stakeholders. They <\/span>also ensure that the final decisions are informed and <\/span>made alongside the community.<\/span><\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n

Neighbourhood round tables (Tables de bon voisinage) <\/span>bring together the citizens living near the Port of <\/span>Qu\u00e9bec<\/span> to<\/span> talk<\/span> about<\/span> the<\/span> issues<\/span> affecting<\/span> their <\/span>neighbourhoods. Together, we discuss local issues and <\/span>work<\/span> to<\/span> enrich<\/span> our<\/span> common<\/span> environment.<\/span> These <\/span>meetings take place in small groups, where friendly <\/span>discussion is encouraged.<\/span><\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n

It\u2019s a way for citizens to share their <\/span>ideas and get information on the Port\u2019s projects. It <\/span>includes project descriptions, timelines, current status, <\/span>people in charge, consultation reports, survey results, <\/span>and much more. Note, however, that it is only available <\/span>in French.<\/span><\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n
