Québec Named Top Cruise Destination in the U.S. & Canada

Québec City wins Cruise Critic’s Cruisers’ Choice Destination Award

Québec (Québec), July 27th, 2017 Québec City has officially been named the Top Cruise Destination in the U.S. & Canada in Cruise Critic’s Cruisers’ Choice Destination Awards.

Cruise Critic is the world’s largest online cruise resource with more than five million cruisers visiting the site each month. Held for the seventh consecutive year, the Annual Cruise Critic Cruisers' Choice Awards are given out based solely on the ratings and reviews from passengers.

“The Port of Québec is extremely honored to be recognized by the thousands of cruise passengers who have visited our beautiful city,” says Mario Girard, President and CEO, Port of Québec. “This is truly a testament to our effort and commitment to make Québec City a top international cruise destination.”

« The City of Québec is proud to receive another prestigious tourism distinction this year, being awarded the Top Cruise Destination in the U.S. & Canada, ranking above major cruise ports like Miami, New York and Vancouver, declared the Mayor of Québec, Mr. Régis Labeaume. This success is the result of the exceptional work accomplished by the Québec Port Authority and all the tourism industry partners. This acknowledgement of Quebec City as a port destination will benefit the region’s economy on a long-term basis. »

Québec was also recently named the top city in Canada in Travel + Leisure’s 2017 World’s Best Awards, winning top spot for the second year in a row. Since 1995, readers of Travel + Leisure have voted on their favorite destinations, hotels, resorts, spas, airlines, cruise lines and more in its World’s Best Awards survey.

The Port of Québec, a designated UNESCO Heritage Site, is sought after by all the major international cruise ship lines and in 2017 will welcome 133 visits by 34 ships representing 25 lines. The Port of Québec forecasts a nearly 30% increase over the 2016 season, an upsurge that could bring the Port to an all-time high of 200,000 visitors.
