Cruises: A Big Weekend at the Port of Québec
10 Different Ships and More Than 44,000 Visitors to Québec Over the Next Four Days

Québec, September 30, 2016 – Over the next four days, the Port of Québec will welcome 10 ships and 44,000 visitors, a record number. This weekend, the busiest of the season, represents both a proud moment and a significant logistical challenge for the Québec Port Authority (QPA).

“Our teams and the involved partners have developed extensive experience over the past few years in traffic management in Québec, and they will once again be working to ensure that the cruise ships and their passengers are able to enjoy our beautiful capital city. On such a busy day, the Port can count on the involvement and collaboration of several hundred partners to bring visitors a unique experience. We want to thank everyone involved in making this possible, as this will significantly help raise our city’s international profile,” said Mario Girard, President and CEO of the QPA.

Over the years, the people of Québec have flocked to admire the ships moored at the Port of Québec. To see the cruise ships schedules and information on each vessel, visit the Port of Québec website: Cruise ships schedule – Port of Québec.
An industry that contributes to the region’s economy

The cruise ship industry is a major activity for the Québec region, tourism-wise and economically speaking. According to a study from the Ministère du Tourisme du Québec, the international cruise ship industry creates $85.9 million worth of direct economic benefits for the province of Quebec. Note that for the Capitale-Nationale region, this represents $329 per destination passenger and $111 per stopover passenger.
